Buying a carpet is easy, but its maintenance requires knowledge, experience, time and patience and caution at all times.

Here are some golden rules and tips for carpet cleaning

  • Always deal with stains as quickly as possible for a greater chance of cleaning success.
  • Never over-wet the carpet when cleaning, always try and keep the carpet as dry as possible.
  • Never use inappropriate household detergents on carpets i.e. (washing up liquid, wash powders, bleach, disinfectants etc.)
  • Never apply the cleaning fluid directly onto the carpet, always apply to the absorbent spotting material i.e. cloth or sponge.
  • Always test any detergent on an inconspicuous area of carpet prior to treating a stain.
  • When using detergents always use the recommended dilution ratios.
  • Always mop, scrape or blot up any excess prior to treatment.
  • Never rub or scrub, always work from the out side of the stain inward to avoid spreading it.
  • Try and encourage quick drying by leaving windows doors open etc.

How do I determine the size of my carpet or rug for cleaning?

There are many sizes of carpets and rugs. The more common ones found here are 9 by 12 ft,
6 by 9 ft, 51/2 by 7 1/2 ft and 4 by 6 ft.

You can also walk in foot-size steps to find out. Most of us do not have standard 1-foot long feet. So you might like to measure the length of your feet first.

A two-seater sofa cover usually spans not more than 6 feet. So more or less the carpet you are measuring is a 4 by 6 ft.A three-seater is about 8 feet long. So if your carpet is slightly longer than that, it is likely to be a 6 by 9 ft.

For round carpets, we treat them as square ones.
For oval carpets, we treat them as rectangular ones

The price for carpet cleaning is $2.50 per square foot. This is usually for thicker or more delicate carpets. Normally, the price of cleaning carpets are less than that.

For very big carpets (sizes larger than 9 by12 ft), we recommend on-site carpet shampooing.

Please do not attempt to wash your carpet with water as it may cause the colour to run and if not dried properly it will produce a foul smell.
